10 CMD Desalination System

10TPD seawater desalination system delivers up to 10,000 LPD of fresh water using a mature pre-treatment + RO process, ensuring stable and continuous freshwater production. It is designed to handle seawater up to 40,000 PPM, with product water TDS below 700 mg/L, providing reliable output for drinking and general industrial use.

This unit features low energy consumption, stable performance, and simple operation—only seawater and power are required for startup. This 10TPD model is mainly designed as a skid-mounted system, with flexible layout options including horizontal or vertical configuration to adapt to installation space. It is widely used in offshore, remote, and industrial applications, and can be fully customized in flow design and system integration to meet project-specific requirements.

1. What is the actual daily water output of a 10TPD system?

10TPD means 10 m³/day, which is equal to around 10,000 liters of fresh water per day under standard operating conditions. This refers to the actual fresh water production over 24 hours of continuous running, not the amount of seawater processed.

2. What water quality can I expect? Can it be used for drinking?

Yes. When the system is properly configured and operated, by using our 10TPD seawater desalination equipment it effectively removes inorganic salts, heavy metal ions, organic matter, bacteria, and other harmful substances in seawater, converting raw seawater into fresh water that meets international drinking water standards. The typical product water TDS is below 700 mg/L depending on feed water conditions.

3. What is the maximum feed water salinity it can handle?

This system is designed to handle seawater with total dissolved solids (TDS) up to 40,000 PPM. If the seawater quality is highly variable or heavily polluted, it is recommended to provide a water quality report for proper system configuration.

4. What technology does the system use?

It adopts a mature pre-treatment + reverse osmosis (RO) desalination process.

Seawater enters the RO system through an intake system (usually provided by the customer), passes through pretreatment to remove suspended solids, and then is pressurized by a high-pressure pump into the RO membrane system to achieve efficient separation and freshwater output.

5. What are the main components of the system?

The standard 10TPD seawater desalination unit is a compact skid-mounted integrated system, including pretreatment filters, high-pressure pump, RO membranes, control system, valves, and necessary instrumentation, all designed for stable and continuous operation.

6. Is the system easy to operate?

Yes, it is designed for simple operation. Once seawater and power supply are connected, the system can start producing water. Only minimal training is required for daily operation and basic monitoring.

7. What is the power consumption of a 10TPD system?

The 10TPD model has an installed power of around 5.5 kW. Based on 24-hour continuous operation, the daily energy consumption is approximately 132 kWh/day (5.5 kW × 24 h). Actual energy consumption may vary depending on feed water conditions and system configuration.

8. What is the operating cost (OPEX)?

Operating cost of SWRO mainly includes electricity, consumables, and routine maintenance. For reference, smaller systems such as SWRO-5TPD show an average daily operating cost of around 59.8 RMB under standard conditions. For 10TPD systems, the exact cost depends on local electricity price, consumables cost, and operating conditions, and can be calculated more precisely based on project data.

9. What structure types are available for this system?

This 10TPD seawater desalination system is mainly designed as a skid-mounted unit. It can be configured in horizontal or vertical layout depending on installation space and site conditions. Containerized design is not the standard configuration for this capacity.

10. Can the system be customized?

Yes, we provide both standard models and customized seawater desalination systems. Customization can include flow capacity, layout design, control system, component brands, and system integration based on specific project requirements.

11. Is it suitable for off-grid or remote areas?

Yes. The system can be integrated with solar power, wind energy, or hybrid energy storage systems, making it suitable for off-grid islands, remote coastal areas, and unstable power supply environments.

12. What industries or applications is it suitable for?

The 10 m³/day capacity makes it suitable for offshore platforms, remote islands, small communities, industrial facilities, and emergency water supply projects. It is not designed for very small household-only applications due to its scale and output capacity.

13. What maintenance is required?

Routine maintenance of SWRO system includes replacing filter media, cleaning RO membranes, and performing regular system flushing to ensure long-term stable performance. These operations are standard for all seawater RO desalination systems.

14. How do I know when consumables need replacement?

When consumables reach their service cycle or become clogged, system pressure readings will indicate abnormal changes.

Typically, if product water flow decreases by around 30%, inlet pressure increases by about 0.2 MPa, or product water TDS continuously rises above 700 ppm and cannot recover after flushing, it indicates that filters or membranes need replacement.

15. Will the system alarm if something goes wrong?

Yes, the system is equipped with high-pressure and low-pressure protection with automatic shutdown and alarm functions. This helps protect the system and allows operators to quickly identify and respond to issues.

16. Does the system require chemical cleaning?

For this model, chemical cleaning is generally not required as standard. Smaller 10TPD systems mainly rely on automatic flushing and clean water rinsing. Chemical cleaning systems are usually used in larger industrial-scale units. Operation guidance and video instructions are provided if needed.

17. What is the delivery form?

The system is delivered as a skid-mounted unit, packed in wooden crates for safe transportation. It is ready for installation after arrival, and basic commissioning can be completed on site.

18. How long does installation and commissioning take?

For 10TPD systems, installation is relatively simple. Basic operation can be understood within a short time (around 5–10 minutes for initial guidance). Since the system is pre-tested before shipment, on-site work is limited, and we also provide operation manuals, videos, and remote technical support if needed.

19. Can you provide project references or case studies?

Yes. Our NE-SWRO seawater desalination systems are widely used and well-received by global partners. The 10TPD system is positioned as a cost-effective entry-level industrial seawater desalination solution with multiple capacity options. Existing projects are mainly located in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and South America, and reference cases can be provided upon request.
