NEWater Self-Priming Pump Work Flow:
In priming mode, the pump functions similarly to a liquid-ring pump. The revolving impeller creates a vacuum at the ‘eye’ of the impeller, which sucks air from the suction line into the pump. At the same time, it forms a liquid-filled cylindrical ring on the inside of the pump casing. This efficiently creates a gas-tight barrier, preventing air from entering the suction line from the discharge line. The liquid within the impeller’s vanes traps air bubbles, which are then delivered to the discharge port. The liquid returns to the reservoir in the pump housing under gravity once the air is removed.

As the liquid is evacuated, it gradually rises up the suction line. This process continues until all of the air in the suction piping and the pump has been replaced by liquid. The typical pumping mode is activated at this point, and liquid is expelled.

When the pump is turned off, the priming chamber’s design (which usually involves a ‘goose-neck’ on the suction piping) guarantees that enough liquid is maintained for the pump to self-prime the next time it is used. Before starting a pump that hasn’t been used in a while, make sure there are no leaks or evaporation losses in the casing.

    NEWater’s Self-priming Pumps maintain a constant flow of fluid in the pump’s body to ensure proper handling of air pockets in the flow of water. Air pockets are quite a nuisance, as they are an accumulation of air bubbles that disrupt the proper functioning of pumps.

    The water before it enters our Self-priming pumps is treated for removal of any large impurities, especially if it is raw water. Firstly, it will be screened for any large materials such as plastics, branches, and waste. Once screened the water undergoes coagulation and flocculation to gather together any floating contaminants, that can then be sedimented in slanted sedimentation tanks. This allows for the prevention of clogging the pump and damage of appliances.

    For the removal of unwanted air and air pockets from the stream of water, a partial vacuum is created by our Self-priming Pumps. This is accomplished by our mixing water with the air present in the pump, and as water has a greater density compared to air, they are immiscible and all the air rises, and the water on the other hand sinks. The water that is now no longer contaminated with air, flows back into the impeller, mixing with any remaining air there as well.

    The process mentioned above is conducted repeatedly by our Self-priming Pumps, allowing for the complete evacuation of air. A vacuum being formed in the suction line means that the pressure in that region is at a minimum and is thus below the atmospheric pressure, causing water to be pushed into that region, and later in the direction of the impeller. This results in the process of pumping starting.
