01 Ensure Equipment Ambient Temperature
The use of any equipment requires a certain ambient temperature, and water purification equipment is no exception. Normally, the suitable working temperature of this equipment should be between 4℃-40℃. Once this range is exceeded, the working efficiency of the equipment will be affected, especially in the cold winter. If the ambient temperature is too low, it may cause the water pipes of the equipment to freeze or crack, or important components such as the core and membrane elements to be damaged.
When the working environment is below 0 degrees, antifreeze measures must be taken for equipment pipes, tanks, water pumps, and other water-passing components. You can use materials such as insulation cotton, heating tape, or old quilts to wrap the equipment to prevent damage caused by freezing.
02 Avoid Lengthy Downtime
The weather is cold in winter, and if the water purification equipment is not used for a long time, the possibility of water generation will be greatly reduced. This will cause the equipment to stop functioning, and in severe cases, the water pipes may freeze and the equipment will not work properly. The main reason why the water output of reverse osmosis water purification equipment is not as good as before after cooling is mainly because the temperature decrease causes the viscosity of water to increase, the diffusivity of water is weakened, and the water flux of the reverse osmosis membrane will decrease. Usually, the water production of the reverse osmosis membrane decreases by about 3-5% for every 1℃ drop in water temperature.
Therefore, in winter, the water production of a reverse osmosis water purifier is about 50% of the water production in summer or even less. At the same time, as the temperature increases, the sewage will decrease and the water production will return to normal levels.
2）Can the equipment be used in winter if it is installed outdoors? What are the dangers?
If it is installed outdoors, antifreeze measures must be taken. Without antifreeze measures, the filter bottle, membrane shell, etc. may freeze and crack. If the temperature drops below zero, it is recommended not to use the equipment.
Similarly, when installed indoors, the room temperature must not be lower than 0 degrees Celsius. Because the volume of water will increase and expand during the solidification process, once it freezes, it may directly cause all the pipes, filter bottles, membrane shells, etc. of the equipment to burst.
3. Will there be any hidden dangers if the equipment is left unmaintained for some time during the holidays?
If the equipment will not be used for a long time, to avoid danger, you must remember to close the water inlet ball valve, and then drain all the water in the equipment. For example, in reverse osmosis water purification equipment, if necessary, the reverse osmosis membrane can be removed and soaked in 1.0% sodium bisulfite to prevent the RO reverse osmosis membrane from growing bacteria if it is not used for a long time.
After the holiday, before using the equipment, check whether the appearance of the machine is normal. Only after confirming that everything is normal can you connect the water source and power supply. It is recommended to drain the first bucket of water produced. The water quality will be normal from now on.
4. The device seems to be a little frozen, what should I do?
If the equipment is found to be frozen, stop it immediately. Make sure that all frozen points are completely melted before starting the equipment. Otherwise, the equipment or electronic components may be damaged. After starting up, check to see if there is any water leakage. If not, you can use it normally.
